First of all there are two methods to reset your router to factory setting. So lets start the process of reset.

  1. First method is via Reset button
  2. Second method is via web page.

Reset via Reset button #

  • First you need to press and hold the Reset button for 10 seconds.
  • Ensure when you press the reset button, the Power LED on router start blinking.

NOTE:  Once you reset your router then default factory will also reset your router’s password. 

  • Note this location of Reset button vary for every model.

Caution: Older Linksys devices require pressing of the Reset button for about 30 seconds.

  • Now after pressing the Reset button, you need to unplug router.
  • Then place it accordingly and re-plug the router’s power adapter.

Reset via web page #

  • First you need to access the router’s web-based setup page.  
    After that go to Administration and then click on the Factory Defaults sub-tab.
  • Now go to Factory Defaults section and click on the Restore Factory Defaults button.
  • Once resetting is done then router to its default settings, reconfigure it according to your Internet service.  
  • Your router reset is successfully done.
